Wisconsin top 2026 commit predicted to flip to the team's upcoming opponent

Wisconsin football top 2026 commit, running back Amari Latimer, is predicted to flip to the Ohio State Buckeyes. On3’s Alex Gleitman logged the prediction on Wednesday morning, giving it a 60% confidence rating.

Latimer has been committed to the Badgers since late June. He originally chose the program over finalists Michigan, Florida State, Georgia, Texas and Tennessee, marking a major win for head coach Luke Fickell and his staff. Notably, the four-star running back is the younger brother of Geimere Latimer, a veteran cornerback who transferred to Wisconsin from Jacksonville State this offseason.

The sentiment surrounding the Wisconsin program is a bit different from what it was when Amari Latimer committed. The team is 2-4 through six games, with four consecutive multi-score losses to Power Four opponents. The No. 1-ranked Buckeyes travel to Madison, Wisconsin, on Saturday, likely to extend that streak to five. That stretch has many questioning Fickell’s future. If the program is to make a move, its class of 2026 is sure to quickly change.

Notably, Latimer wore an Ohio State arm sleeve during his most recent high school game, closely following a visit to Columbus, Ohio, for the Buckeyes’ win over Minnesota on Oct. 4. While he later explained the reasoning behind the accessory, it’s hard to ignore the timing of his visit to the Buckeyes, that headline, and On3’s subsequent flip prediction.

247Sports currently ranks Latimer as the No. 379 overall player in the class of 2026, the No. 24 running back and the No. 40 recruit from his home state of Georgia. He is one of Wisconsin’s top-ranked commits in the class. Were he to decommit, the program would drop from its current position of No. 55 nationally and No. 14 in the Big Ten.

Wisconsin hosts Ohio State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET, 2:30 p.m. CT. While the majority of the focus is on the game itself, the program also appears to be battling the Buckeyes on the recruiting trail.
