According to Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen will earn more from the loan deal with an obligation to buy they agreed with Arsenal for Piero Hincapié than they would have from a direct sale.

Because the deal is structured this way, Leverkusen will not have to pay the 20 percent resale clause that Hincapié’s former club, AC Talleres, secured when he was sold to Germany.

If Hincapié’s €60 million release clause had been triggered, Leverkusen would have owed €12 million to his former club.

Instead, they agreed on a loan to Arsenal with a purchase obligation of a reported €55 million, which will be activated as long as Arsenal remain in the Premier League a scenario that seems more than likely.
