There is an actual history of Ryder Cup captains playing in the tournament between Team USA and Team Europe, but Keegan Bradley isn’t joining that list.
Given how he’s played in 2025, it wouldn’t have been crazy for him to use one of his captain’s picks to choose himself, but he declined to do it.
“The decision was made a while ago,” he said in August when asked when he knew he wasn’t picking himself. “The last 48 hours, we had the team set.”
He later added that at some point he was on the team but then he saw other players “step up.”
There you have your answer.
