Who will represent Lenawee County at the D3 girls state track finals?

ADRIAN – Teams from across Lenawee County traveled to Adrian Madison High School this past week to compete in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division 3 Girls Regional Track and Field meet.

On the girls side of the competition, Blissfield qualified for the team portion of the Division 3 state finals thanks to their runner-up finish, finishing just a point and a half behind the regional champions from Erie Mason. Erie Mason finished in first place with 99.5 points while Blissfield finished in a close second with 98 points.

Also representing Lenawee County at the Division 3 regional was Adrian Madison, which finished in fifth place while Onsted finished in sixth place. Rounding out the local contingent of teams was Hudson in eighth place, Sand Creek in tenth place, and Clinton in eleventh place.

Here is a list of those athletes that qualified for the MHSAA State Finals in Division 3 based on their regional efforts.

Blissfield Royals

Peyton Tennant, Sr. – Tennant was Blissfield’s only individual regional champion this season, winning the shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 2.5 inches. Tennant also earned a trip to the finals in the high jump, finishing in third place with a jump of 4 feet, 10 inches. Tennant also earned big points for Blissfield in the discus with a sixth-place finish and the long jump with a fifth-place effort.

3,200-meter relay team – Blissfield’s 3,200 relay team made up of Hailey Sills, Hope Miller, Anna Hallett, and Kaleea Braun also brought home a gold medal, winning the regional championship in a time of 10 minutes, 10.16 seconds.

Hope Miller, Jr. – Miller qualified for two individual events at the regional finals, taking third place in the 800-meter run in a time of 2 minutes, 22.53 seconds and third place in the 1,600 in a time of 5 minutes, 11.89 seconds.

Hailey Sills, Jr. – Sills advanced to the state finals in the 3,200-meter run, finishing in third place in a time of 11 minutes, 53.46 seconds, a personal best.

Leigh Wyman, Jr. – Wyman earned a trip out of regionals with a third-place finish in the 100 hurdles, finishing in a time of 17.29 seconds.

Adrian Madison Trojans

Madelyn Bailey, Sr. – Bailey led the way for Adrian Madison with a runner-up finish in the pole vault, qualifying for the state finals with a vault of 8 feet, 6 inches.

400-meter relay team – The 400-meter relay team of Vivienne McGormley, Christiana Allen, Nevaeh Parish, and Jassmin Walker qualified for the state finals with a third-place finish in a state qualifying time of 52.37 seconds.

Onsted Wildcats

Emmry Ross, Sr. – To say the Onsted senior is a superstar would be a massive understatement. Ross qualified for the state finals in four different running events, earning a regional championship in three of the four and a runner-up finish in the fourth. Ross won the 400 in a blistering time of 55.12 seconds; first place in the 800 in a time of 2 minutes, 6.16 seconds; first place in the 1,600 in a time of 4 minutes, 49.62 seconds; and second place in the 3,200 in a time of 11 minutes, 13.95 seconds.

1,600-meter relay team – The 1,600-relay team of Raegan Brosamer, Izzy Cunningham, Alison England, and Hadley Ross finished in tenth place at the regional level but still qualified for the state finals with a time of 4 minutes, 33.52 seconds met earlier in the year.

Hudson Tigers

Naika Rath, Jr. – Rath qualified for the state finals in the marquee sprints, earning a total of three individual spots at the state finals. Rath kicked things off by finishing in third place in the 100 in a qualifying time of 12.77 seconds followed by a second-place finish in the 200 in a time of 25.77 seconds. To round out Rath’s effort it was the senior taking second place in the 400 in a time of 1 minute, 0.64 seconds.

Ellie Loar, Jr. – Loar earned the right to wear her team colors at the state finals in the shot put, taking second place with a personal best throw of 33 feet, 10 inches.

Sand Creek Aggies

Erin Alexander, Soph. – Alexander is Sand Creek’s lone state qualifier on the girls side this season after winning a regional title in the pole vault after clearing 9 feet, 0 inches.

Clinton Redwolves

800-meter relay team – The 800-meter relay team for Clinton, consisting of Khloie Miller, Bella Bannon, Madelyn McGraw, and Ella Claus qualified for the state finals with their runner-up finish in a time of 1 minute, 51.48 seconds.

Bella Bannon, Soph. – Bannon finished in 13th place at regionals, but a season best jump of 5 feet, 2 inches punched her ticket to the state finals.

The Division 3 state finals will take place on May 31 at Kent City High School in Kent City.
