The Menke GMC Athlete of the Week poll for June 8-15 is now live until Thursday, June 19 at noon.

Cast your vote for the best area performance in the heat of intense postseason competition across baseball, track and field and softball.

Bella Thomas, Assumption

Thomas scored a goal for Assumption in their 2-1 playoff win over Aquinas on June 12. 

Peyton Mancl, Pacelli

Mancl became the 13th pitcher in WIAA tournament history to toss a no-hitter in a playoff game. 

Taylor Friedel, D.C. Everest

Friedel walked Watertown off in the state semifinal with an RBI single in the eighth inning.

Riya Cabellos, Almond-Bancroft

Cabellos went the distance as a pitcher and at-bat notched three hits, four runs, five RBI in a 18-3 win over Thorp.

Mya Dernbach, Almond-Bancroft

Dernbach went 4-4 at-bat in Almond-Bancroft’s 18-3 win over Thorp to advance to the Division 5 championship.

Logan Zickert, Pittsville

Zickert pitched six innings yielding three hits, one earned run and striking out 13 in Pittsville’s 2-1 win over Blair-Taylor to advance to the state tournament on June 10. 

Addison Kluck, D.C. Everest

Kluck went the distance in an extra-inning thriller and tossed 13 strikeouts, yielding one hit and zero runs en route to a Division 1 semifinal win.

Aislinn Dolan, Assumption

Dolan scored a goal for Assumption in their 2-1 playoff win over Aquinas on June 12.
