The 2025 NFL draft is over. It was a good weekend for the Washington Commanders, despite possessing only five picks. Washington targeted positions of need, while sticking to their board.
Veteran players returned to Ashburn last week ahead of the NFL draft. So, while the offseason program is officially underway, the rookies will join them soon.
The Commanders welcomed five draftees to the roster: offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr., cornerback Trey Amos, wide receiver Jaylin Lane, linebacker Kain Medrano and running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt.
Here’s a look at the Commanders’ upcoming 2025 offseason slate, including rookie minicamp, OTAs and mandatory minicamp.
Rookie minicamp: May 8-11
The Commanders will hold their rookie minicamp during the second weekend of May.
Schedule release: May 14
The highlight of May’s NFL calendar, the schedule is released during the middle of the month. While teams and fans know who is on the following season’s schedule, we get to learn the when. The Commanders expect to have multiple prime-time games next season, thanks to quarterback Jayden Daniels. Washington hasn’t exactly been a fixture in prime-time games in recent years.
NFLPA Rookie Premiere, Los Angeles, California: May 14-18
The NFLPA Rookie Premiere invites several rookie draft picks to Los Angeles, where they learn about life in the NFL, about marketing, branding and so much more. The rookie are also photographed in their NFL uniforms for the first time.
Phase Two of the offseason program: May 5-8; May 12-15; May 19-22
Phase Two consists of on-field drills, offensive and defensive drills, but no contact is allowed.
Phase Three: May 27-30; June 2-6
Phase Three is when teams can have Organized Team Activities (OTAs). However, contact is still prohibited. Teams can have up to 10 OTAs.
Mandatory minicamp: June 10-12
The entire team will be in town for the only mandatory portion of the offseason. Washington had 100% participation last offseason.
