What We Actually Know About JaNa and Kenny’s Breakup

Sunglasses on — it’s getting shady in here. JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez, who won third place on Love Island USA season six last summer, broke up after a long night at David Dobrik’s birthday party on July 26 ended with JaNa unfollowing Kenny on Instagram. While the internet’s Scandoval flashbacks have prompted theories about Kenny ranging from sympathetic to downright despicable, JaNa says none have “matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is.” Her Love Island: Beyond the Villa castmates and Powerpuff Gang sisters Serena Page and Leah Kateb followed her statement up on July 29, claiming Kenny is “racist,” “narcissistic,” and “clout-chasing.” Below, what’s happening beyond Beyond the Villa now that JaNa and Kenny have both confirmed the breakup.

What have JaNa and Kenny said?

“As you know, Kenny and I are no longer together,” a statement JaNa posted on Instagram Stories and TikTok on July 29 reads. “Please know that I have seen all the breakup theories and none have matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is. Discovering that someone you loved isn’t who you thought they were and that the relationship you thought you were building hasn’t been genuine since day one has truly been devastating.”

Kenny began his own Instagram Story statement by saying that “the past few days have been extremely difficult” and that he was trying to “process everything privately.” “Breakups are never easy, especially in the public eye,” he continued. “Sometimes, despite how deeply you care for someone, you come to the hard truth that the relationship was not something that could last long-term. I’ll always be grateful for the time we shared and the memories we created. I release this chapter with no ill will, only a hope that JaNa’s path forward brings her nothing but happiness.”

But if you think that was a little lackluster, so did JaNa. “stfu you manipulative liar. You not taking accountability and telling people the tupe of person you really are is insane to me,” she responded on her Story. “My first statement was me being nice. Do not piss me off.”

On August 1, JaNa thanked her fans for their support but expressed a desire to move past the relationship. She wrote on IG stories through several posts: “I’ve seen all the love you guys have drowned me in on social media — it has been an overflow of just support and prayers, and that means more to me than you guys will ever know. But I want to close this chapter of my life. I don’t want it to take any more of my energy, I don’t want it to take any more of y’all’s energy. I love you guys, but I need to move on.”

What did Kenny do???

Serena and Leah gave us more insight on July 29, both calling Kenny “racist.” “Put a sock in it ChatGPT headass,” Leah responded to his statement on her Story. “Tell the truth for once! Racist, clout/money hungry and a scammer since DAY 1!!!! Tryna make it seem like it’s something it’s not.”

“narcissitic and racist,” Serena commented on one of Kenny’s photos. (Leah also added “Delete my man off your page you clout demon” on one of his Instagram photos featuring Miguel Harichi.)

That same day, Beyond the Villa co-star Liv Walker reposted Kenny’s “pathetic excuse for a story” and called it “laughable.” “I hope this gives you the clout you always wanted you fucking loser.”

JaNa’s off-screen best friend, Charmane, made more specific claims about Kenny’s behavior before going private on July 29: “My advice for women in relationships: if you have access – go thru your mans phone TODAY,” she wrote. “Search keywords like ‘I don’t like black women, I thought I would get more money from this, I’m faking this relationship, going on the show would be for clout, I can’t wait to be done w this so I can fuck hella b*tches…….’”

So, what happened at David Dobrik’s party?

Kenny, who is still based in Texas, was posting up a storm in L.A. on July 26, starting with Snapchat stories of the couple at the gym. (We’ll have to unpack the obsession Love Island USA contestants have with Snapchat another day.) He also shared a TikTok from a Brazilian restaurant where JaNa appears happy, full of energy, and in love with her meal. She’s fed — what could go wrong?

Except nothing good happens in the presence of David Dobrik anymore. The disgraced YouTuber, who still maintains enough business relationships to afford his friends an influencer lifestyle, held a black-tie casino-themed birthday party sponsored by at least three different companies excluding his own (BevMo! for his custom drink menu, YoungLA streetwear on photography, and a gopuff! roulette wheel). The invite list included paid performer YG, unrecognizable models and micro-influencers, and internet celebrities from bygone days like Jason Nash and his wife, as well as current reality-TV menaces like Harry Jowsey, who showed up in the exact opposite of formalwear. Then, there’s JaNa and Kenny, who look like the king and queen of influencer prom. In one clip, he’s staring at his phone as she hangs off his neck slow dancing.

Per footage Reality Ops pulled to create a timeline of events, Kenny posted on Snapchat and Instagram all night, starting from 7 p.m. in a golf cart heading to the party all the way up to 2 a.m., when he was apparently back at JaNa’s place eating the saddest drunk meal ever. In one moment, Kenny is dancing with a python around his neck (classic Dobrik), and when JaNa touches it, she mentions Rob “Snake Athlete” Rausch, who happens to be in L.A.

Now, listen: A viral tweet claiming the couple got into a screaming match at the party over a side chick was easily debunked. A source denied the claim to People and confirmed that JaNa ended the relationship on July 27. “They will not be getting back together,” the source added.

Who else from Love Island USA has responded?

Beyond the Villa co-stars Serena, Liv, Miguel, Leah, Kaylor Martin, and Kordell Beckham unfollowed shortly after JaNa on July 27. (Miguel and Leah were on a bit of a delay from vacation in Turks and Caicos celebrating their anniversary. JaNa and Kenny’s anniversary was approaching on August 9 — in June, he even told Us Weekly, “There’s a trip planned.” So, which brand is going to take her to Italy instead?)

Love Island host Ariana Madix reminded audiences that dropping dead weight in a breakup can actually be a good thing. “She’s great,” Madix told E! News. “She’s always been an angel and a queen and a force. I’m honestly happy for her. I’m happy for her because it’s bigger and better.”

Fellow Love Islanders and consummate JaNa worshippers Rob and Kendall Washington found out about the rumors while IRL streaming with an even more problematic influencer, Josh Richards. “I’m not a messy guy,” Richards says to the boys while apparently in line at Zaxby’s. “I’d never try to get a clip.” Kendall, who famously is a messy guy, goes silent and moves out of the frame. Rob stays silent. It’s awkward. As of July 29, both Rob and Kendall have unfollowed Kenny.

Kenny removed his ex from his bio, and, later, deleted an entire Story highlight titled “Nay❤️.” As of July 28, he still follows every member of PPG+ including JaNa.

How delusional should fans be?

There may be fan fiction about how Rob and JaNa end up Nicolandria-ing, but let’s give Peacock a chance to get the cameras up first.
