West Ham United have parted ways with manager Graham Potter following a disappointing spell in charge, according to The Athletic.
The decision comes after a difficult start to the new campaign, where the Hammers have managed only one win in five matches. They sit 19th in the Premier League, with five goals scored and 13 conceded so far.
Potter was appointed in January on a two-and-a-half-year deal, arriving as the replacement for Julen Lopetegui.
The Englishman was expected to steady the club, but his reign has been marked by inconsistency and poor results.
Struggles during his tenure
When Potter took charge, West Ham were 14th in the table. They finished last season in the same position, despite him overseeing the final 18 matches.
Under his watch, the team secured only five victories during that stretch. This follows concerns about his decision-making during matches and his lack of tactical flexibility.
In total, Potter managed 25 games for the Hammers, winning just six. The lack of progress left the board with little confidence that results would improve.
This season has brought further frustration, with the side unable to climb out of the bottom three. The defence has been fragile, while goals have been hard to come by, leaving fans restless.
Search for a replacement
West Ham have already started planning for a new head coach to guide them forward. Talks have reportedly been held with Nuno Espirito Santo and Slaven Bilic as possible candidates.
Both men have experience in the Premier League and are seen as options who can quickly restore order to a troubled campaign.
The board hopes to appoint a manager who can lift performances and steer the team away from relegation danger.
For Potter, this was his first role since being dismissed by Chelsea in April 2023. His spell at Stamford Bridge lasted only 31 matches before he was removed.
The disappointment at West Ham now adds to what has been a difficult period in his managerial career. With the Hammers turning elsewhere, he will once again be left searching for his next opportunity.
West Ham supporters will now await the announcement of a successor, as the club looks to salvage a season that has begun poorly.
