It didn’t take long for linebacker Frankie Luvu to become a fan favorite for the Washington Commanders. Whether it’s his hair, style of play, jersey number, production, swagger, or a combination of everything, Luvu became popular amongst fans in his first season in the burgundy and gold.
So, it was no surprise that Luvu was in attendance for Game 5 of the Washington Capitals’ Eastern Conference first-round matchup against the Montreal Canadiens. The Caps defeated Montreal, 4-1, winning their first playoff series since winning the Stanley Cup in 2018.
As with previous home playoff games, the Commanders were well-represented at Capital One Arena. Last week, quarterback Jayden Daniels and others were in attendance. On Wednesday, it was all about Luvu.

Last week, Daniels cheered on backup quarterback Sam Hartman as he chugged a beer. Guard Sam Cosmi always took part in the fun.
Luvu brought good luck to the Capitals as Alex Ovechkin’s record-breaking season continues for another round. The NHL’s all-time leading goal scorer had his fourth goal of the series and tied the legendary Mario Lemieux for 12th all-time in most career playoff goals scored.
Next up for Washington is the Carolina Hurricanes, a team that finished right behind them in the Metropolitan Division.
You can bet Luvu and some of his teammates will be around to support the Caps when they’re home at Capital One Arena.
