There were plenty of standout showings from Louisville-area athletes throughout the track and field season.
Voting is underway for The Courier Journal’s girls track and field athlete of the year. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Friday.

Here are the nominees:
Grace Bethel, Male
Sophomore Grace Bethel won the 100- and 200-meter Class 3A outdoor state championships. She was also part of Male’s 400 and 800 relay teams that finished first. She only had two second-place finishes in eight track meets this outdoor season.
Alexandra Allen, Manual
Senior Alexandra Allen finished first in the 400 meters and second in the 100 at the Class 3A outdoor state championships. She finished the year with the fastest 400-meter time in the state.
Leah Penick, Assumption
Senior Leah Penick won both the 1,600- and the 3,200-meter at the state meet.
Eden Hoelscher, Sacred Heart
Freshman Eden Hoelscher broke the state record for the 100-meter wheelchair race (23.55 seconds), finishing six seconds faster than the previous record (29.97) in the Class 3A outdoor state championships.
Clara Warrick, Oldham County
Junior Clara Warrick won the 55-meter dash, recording a personal-best 6.98 seconds, and the 200-meter dash in 24.06 seconds at the KHSAA Indoor Track & Field State Championships.
