Vote for Louisville-area high school boys athlete of the week before polls close Thursday

The nominees for this week’s Courier Journal boys athlete of the week delivered on tracks and baseball fields.

Voting is underway for The Courier Journal’s boys athlete of the week. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Friday.

Here are the nominees:

Zach Floyd, Trinity baseball

Junior Zach Floyd went 4 for 7 with four RBIs in two games during the Seventh Region Tournament.

Joey Dudeck, Pleasure Ridge Park baseball

Sophomore Joey Dudeck pitched a shutout in the Sixth Region championship for the Panthers against DeSales. He struck out seven and only allowed three hits in seven innings.

Jarett Stewart, Spencer County baseball

Senior Jarett Stewart pitched a shutout and struck out 11 in Spencer County’s Eighth Region championship win over North Oldham.

Taevion Sweeney, Male track and field

Senior Taevion Sweeney won the 300-meter hurdles and was part of the first-place 1,600 relay.

James Burnett, St. Xavier track and field

Senior James Burnett won the 400-meter state title for the third consecutive year, crossing the finish line in 47.47 seconds.
