Analia Tornez of Hickman girls soccer is the reigning Boone County High School Athlete of the Week. Now, it’s time to vote for the top athlete for May 12-17. Voting will remain open until Thursday, May 22 at 11:59 p.m.
Here’s this week’s nominees: Angelina Cottone, Asher Schulze, Athena Peterson, Brady Crites, Brayden Beckmann, Bryce Ott, Cha’ion Crump, Cohen Mason, Curien Larkins, Drevyn Seamon, Elyse Wilmes, Ethan Hockman, Henry Bohlmeyer, Hunter Caldwell, Isaac DeMuth, John Glaude, John Moss, Journey Gaines, Kaitlyn Reid, Kale Castaner, Landon Atkins, Liam Newman, Lillian Brooks, Lucas Wietholder, Luke Waltemate, Madison Taylor, Samuel Truesdell, Tyler Putnam, Will Breitweiser, Will Kimes, Xavier Wandry, Vernell Holt.
Atkins, Caldwell, and Ott threw a combined no-hitter for Harrisburg baseball in its 11-1 Class 2, District 8 Quarterfinal win over Russellville. DeMuth went 2-for-2, while Caldwell drove in a run in a 2-1 victory over Iberia to help send the Bulldogs to the district championship game.
Beckmann went 3-for-3 with two RBIs in Southern Boone’s 4-3 win over California. He also allowed just three hits, while collecting 11 strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched.
Bohlmeyer went 4-for-5 with an RBI in Centralia’s 12-7 win over Hallsville. Lukemate extended the Panthers season in the Class 3, District 7 Quarterfinals with a walk-off home run in a 10-9 win over New Bloomfield.
Brooks collected a pair of hat tricks for Southern Boone girls soccer in its 8-0 victory over both Warrenton and Stover.
Cottone placed first in the 3200-meter run for Tolton girls track and field at the Class 4, District 4 Tournament at 11:45.02.
Crump placed first in triple jump for Battle boys track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament with a mark of 13.97 meters.
Gaines placed first in the 110-meter dash for Battle girls track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament at 12.08.
Glaude placed first in the 1600-meter run for Tolton boys track and field at the Class 4, District 4 Tournament at 4:37.69.
Hockman placed first in the 800-meter dash for Rock Bridge boys track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament at 1:56.76.
Holt placed first in long jump for Battle boys track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament with a mark of 7.19 meters.
Larkins placed first in the 110-meter hurdles for Hickman boys track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament at 14.86.
Mason placed first in shot put for Rock Bridge boys track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament with a mark of 14.86 meters.
Moss placed first in the 400-meter dash for Hickman boys track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament at 47.84.
Peterson placed first in the 300-meter hurdles for Hickman girls track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament at 43.14. She also placed first in long and triple jump with a mark of 5.72 and 12.32 meters.
Putnam collected five RBIs for Battle baseball in its 16-0 win over Camdenton. Crites went 3-for-4 plate with two more RBIs in the winning effort.
Reid placed first in the 3200-meter run for Rock Bridge girls track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament at 12:12.63.
Seamon placed first in the 100 and 200-meter dash for Rock Bridge boys track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament at 10.61 and 21.65.
Schulze went 2-for-2 with three RBIs while Kimes added four more RBIs for Rock Bridge baseball in a 10-0 over Hickman. Castaner gave the Bruins the regular season sweep of the Kewpies in an 11-10 victory with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Taylor collected two goals for Tolton girls soccer in its 4-0 win over Chillicothe.
Truesdell collected three RBIs for Sturgeon baseball in its 14-4 win over Wellsville-Middletown.
Wandry placed first in high jump for Battle boys track and field at the Class 5, District 4 Tournament with a mark of 1.91 meters.
Wietholder collected five RBIs for Tolton baseball in its 12-10 win over Southern Boone. Both Breitweiser and Newman collected two hits and two RBIs a piece.
Wilmes placed first in the 800 and 1600-meter run for Tolton girls track and field at the Class 4, District 4 Tournament at 2:08.70 and 5:11.73.
