There will be celebrations aplenty at Bellagio’s The Pinky Ring tonight. Bruno Mars and Rosé won the Song of the Year award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards for “APT.” Rosé accepted the award on Mars’s behalf, reading from prepared remarks that were pretty psychologically revealing. At her therapist’s prompting, Rosé thanked herself for all her hard work. “Someone asked me the other day what my fear in life was, and I was quite shocked at my own response,” she said. Rosé said her greatest fear was hitting a wall and disappointing her 16-year-old self, a girl she described as “an oddball among society that wished someday she, too, could be herself and equally pursue her dreams just as well as anyone else I saw on television.”

“Twelve years later,” Rosé continued, “I dedicate this award to my 16-year-old self who dreams.” But Rosé didn’t just thank herself, though. She also shouted out her Blackpink bandmates, Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo. And, of course, Bruno Mars. Later in the evening, she introduced Lady Gaga and the live debut of “The Dead Dance.” 16-year-old Rosé must be kvelling.
