Alabama football‘s second road trip of 2025 won’t be an easy one. The Crimson Tide are headed to Athens to face the Georgia Bulldogs at Sanford Stadium for the first time in 10 years.
Alabama won one of the best games in all of college football last season with its 41-34 victory over the Bulldogs on Sept. 28 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide rose to No. 1 in the polls afterwards, only to come crashing down a week later at Vanderbilt.
A year later, Alabama is No. 16 in the US LBM Coaches Poll after winning comfortably, 38-14 over Wisconsin in Week 3. Georgia is ranked No. 3 following its 44-41 overtime win at Tennessee.
On Thursday, USA TODAY Sports’ college football experts unveiled their weekly picks and predictions for every top 25 team in Week 5, including Alabama vs. Georgia.
The panel of Paul Myerberg, Matt Hayes, Blake Toppmeyer, Erick Smith, Eddie Timanus and Jordan Mendoza see Georgia coming out ahead Saturday, with one exception. Of the six, Timanus was the only member of USA TODAY Sports’ pigskin prognosticators that predicted an Alabama upset in Athens.
Pressure is on Kalen DeBoer to win Alabama game at Georgia
Paul Myerberg believes there’s more at stake for Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer Saturday night at Sanford Stadium than any other head coach in the country in Week 5.
Myerberg said:
“Alabama has gone 7-5 since that win against Georgia last season and just 5-5 in games against the Power Four. While they’ve gotten back on track against Louisiana-Monroe and Wisconsin, the Crimson Tide are still dealing with the fallout of a 31-17 loss to the Florida State and coach Mike Norvell, one of the leading candidates for the post-Nick Saban opening that eventually went to DeBoer.”
Kickoff for Alabama vs. Georgia is listed as a 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ABC with Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit on the national TV call.
