Update on Flames’ Nazem Kadri Won’t Please Maple Leafs Fans originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Calgary Flames center Nazem Kadri’s name continues to swirl in Toronto Maple Leafs trade speculation.
NHL insider Frank Seravalli stated Tuesday on B/R Open Ice that a reunion is unlikely, however.
“A lot of people talking about the Calgary Flames and Nazem Kadri. What happens with their star center? Will he be on the move?” Seravalli said. “It is summer, it is hot out, and perhaps it’s time for me to pour some cold water on those rumors.”
“You heard him linked to the Maple Leafs, the Montreal Canadiens. You hear him linked to lots of different places. How about we keep the link with the Calgary Flames?”

Seravalli reported that Calgary has not engaged in any serious trade discussions and remains committed to Kadri.
“Not only has he done everything they’ve asked of him, but Calgary isn’t interested in moving him,” Seravalli said. “Sources indicate that the Calgary Flames really haven’t engaged in any of those conversations.”
“It would take a heck of an offer to get Nazem Kadri out of Calgary, where he is ingrained and embedded in the culture of that team.”

With the Flames finishing 29th in goals scored last season, it’s fair to believe they’re not interested in dealing their top forward.
Kadri had 35 goals and 32 assists last year, and he has four years remaining on his seven-year, $49 million contract.
The 34-year-old also holds a full no-movement clause, which becomes a modified, 13-team no-trade clause after next season, giving him tons of control over his short-term future.
Kadri was drafted No. 7 overall by the Maple Leafs in 2009 and played 10 seasons for the franchise.
