Bradley Ibrahim says it was an “unbelievable feeling” to score his first goal for Plymouth Argyle.

The 20-year-old midfielder put in an impressive performance as Argyle beat Stockport County 4-2 in League One for the Pilgrims to record just their second league win of the season.

Ibrahim put Argyle 3-1 up early in the second half with an accurate low drive into the bottom corner.

The goal came after he had been harshly penalised for fouling County forward Nathan Lowe in the area just before the break as the visitors pulled a goal back from a penalty.

“Scoring my first goal for the club is an unbelievable feeling,” he told BBC Sport.

“I wanted to get it a bit earlier, but having it now and the goal that it was in front of that end of the pitch is unbelievable.

“The fans are some of the best that I’ve played in front of and it’s just a great feeling.”

‘He’s a leader for 20 years old’

The former Arsenal academy player joined Argyle in the summer from German side Hertha Berlin, having spent last season on loan at Crawley Town.

He says Argyle boss Tom Cleverley has helped his game – the Pilgrims’ head coach won the Premier League with Manchester United and earned 13 England caps.

“He’s an inspiration for me,” Ibrahim added.

“I looked up to him from before he was my manager and he’s just a great person to learn from and just take small little details.

“He really helps me. Obviously, he was a midfielder, and he’s just an unbelievable person to help mentor me.”

Cleverley says he has been impressed with how mature his young midfielder has been.

He has started six of Argyle’s seven League One games this season as well as both of the Carabao Cup ties.

“He didn’t put a foot wrong,” Cleverley told BBC Sport after the win.

“He’s a leader for 20 years old and today was an outstanding midfield performance from Bradley.

“He’s 20, we have to remember that, but my challenge to him is to be more consistent.

“He knows that, but we’ve seen what Bradley’s ceiling looks like and it’s really exciting.”
