Morocco is on the verge of making history this Wednesday as they face France in the semi-finals of the U20 World Cup.
A win against “Les Bleuets” would see the “Atlas Cubs” reachtheir first-ever final in the premier junior competition.
To book their place in the last four, Morocco defeated the United States 3-1 in the quarter-finals. In the round of 16, they tactically outclassed South Korea with a 2-1 victory.
In the group stage, Morocco finished top thanks to two impressive wins over Spain (2-0) and Brazil (2-1), despite a narrow defeat to Mexico on matchday three.
As the last African representative in the tournament, Morocco will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Ghana, who famously won the 2009 edition.
Morocco’s G. Yassine and O. Maamma, lead the FIFA U20 World Cup assists table with 3 assists each. They have been instrumental in the @FRMFOFFICIEL Atlas Cub’s perfect run at the ongoing #FIFAU20WC in Chile. Y. Zabiri is 5th on the top scorers’ chart with 3 goals. pic.twitter.com/64WEDijtPl
