The 125th edition of the U.S. Open Golf Championship gets underway on June 12 and Southwest Florida golf fans will have a local rooting interest.
Naples resident Noah Kent will be at Oakmont Country Club competing in his second major tournament of the 2025 season. In April, the 20-year-old failed to make the cut at the Masters, but is hoping to advance to the weekend at the U.S. Open. He qualified for both majors thanks to a runner-up finish at the U.S. Amateur Championship last summer.
Kent, a two-time Southwest Florida Boys Golfer of the Year while at Gulf Coast High School, will be one of 11 amateurs competing at the U.S. Open. He will tee off at 8:35 a.m. on June 12 alongside South African Thirston Lawrence and Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen. In Round 2, the trio will start at No. 10 and tee off at 2:20 p.m.
