Traffic diverted on National Highway No. 65

Nalgonda: Vehicles travelling from Hyderabad to Vijayawada through the National Highway 65 were diverted owing to flooding on the highway at Jaggayyapet. Floodwaters began to inundate the highway around 9 pm on Saturday, forcing authorities to redirect traffic through Kodad and Khammam. The diversion led to traffic jams on NH 65 near Kodad for some time.

As rainwater continued to flood the Kodad-Khammam stretch, traffic was rerouted through Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, and Guntur at 11 pm.

Vehicles heading to Khammam from Hyderabad were also diverted through Nakrekal, Arvepally, and Marripeda Bunglow. Additionally, the Uracheruvu at Burgulapadu overflowed, disrupting road connectivity between Miryalaguda and Huzurnagar.

Suryapet superintendent of police Sunpreet Singh advised the public to postpone their travel to Vijayawada and Khammam via Suryapet. Water was reported to be flowing on NH 65 at Chillakallu and Nandigama in Andhra Pradesh, and the Paleru River is overflowing onto the road at Nayakinigudem on the Suryapet-Khammam route. As a safety measure, vehicles have been stopped along these routes, and travellers are advised to delay their journey.
