Heung-min Son
The time for a split has finally arrived between Heung-min Son and Tottenham Hotspur. The South Korean international has officially announced his departure from the club.
A golden chapter in Tottenham’s history is coming to a close this summer. The Spurs are set to bid farewell to their South Korean legend, Heung-min Son, who is packing his bags. Having been the last remaining player from the starting eleven that opened the Champions League final lost by Tottenham to Liverpool in 2019 (0-2), Son did manage to secure one title with the English club: the Europa League (against Manchester United in May 2025, 1-0).

In the last few hours, Son made it official at a press conference, declaring that he would leave with one year remaining on his contract. “I arrived in North London as a kid. I didn’t speak English. I leave this club as a young man. Thank you to all the Spurs supporters who gave me so much love. This is the hardest decision I’ve made in my career. The main reason is that I have achieved everything I could at Tottenham. I leave this club as a truly proud man. Now I need a new environment to take on a new challenge.” he said in his home country of South Korea, where Tottenham are currently on tour.

Son also revealed that his decision had been accepted by his coach and teammates: “They respect my decision. It’s hard to break the news to my teammates, because I probably spend more time with them than with my family, knowing we’re together five or six hours a day. They were disappointed, but also happy for me.”
With Tottenham, Son has tallied 173 goals and 101 assists in 454 appearances. According to The Athletic, clubs from the Saudi Pro League are already trying to sign the forward, as is Fenerbahçe. But it seems Son is more interested in making a move to Los Angeles FC.
Son Heung-min has played more matches (333), scored more goals (127) and provided more assists (71) than any other Asian player in Premier League history.
