The Worm ‘Ate Just a Little Bit’ of RFK Jr.’s Brain

Cheryl Hines is standing beside Robert F. Kennedy Jr. no matter how much of his brain that worm ate. She went on The View on October 14 to promote her upcoming book, Unscripted, out on November 11, and while she was there, Joy Behar dedicated her final question to the one thing we all really care about the most. “Does he or does he not have a brain worm?” Behar asked, slamming her hand down on the table.

“It ate just a little bit of his brain and died,” Hines responded. “So don’t worry.” The other women of The View were confused, seemingly not having heard of the famous Kennedy brain worm, which was first reported on by the New York Times in May 2024. “Wait, what died?” asked an incredulous Whoopi Goldberg. “The brain died?” Hines said that they’ll have to read her book.

Most of the appearance saw Hines defending her husband. Sunny Hostin pushed Hines on her relationship with Donald Trump and whether she supports access to vaccines. “They both want access to vaccines,” Hines said, to which Behar countered that it seemed as though Kennedy and Trump were “casting doubt on the efficacy of the vaccine.” “So my question is, Can we do better?” Hines repeated vaccine disinformation, wondering, “Can we make them safer? Can we listen to parents who say, ‘My child got the vaccine and changed and stopped hitting markers, stopped developing the way they were developing.’” Vaccine research overwhelmingly rejects the idea that vaccines are connected to autism.

Hines also defended Kennedy’s lack of qualifications for his current role, saying, “One of Obama’s secretaries of HHS was an economist,” referring to Sylvia Mathews Burwell, who had previously worked as the president of the global-development program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, focusing on ending world poverty. Goldberg, meanwhile, pointed out that Kennedy is often “speaking not with the best information.” And Hostin noted, in response to Hines, that Kennedy is the “least qualified” to hold the position. “I just wanted to follow up because Bobby’s background, everything I have seen him do — he has dedicated his career to suing big corporations because of toxins that have been affecting people’s health,” she asserted of his law experience. “He was part of the team that sued Monsanto because of Roundup, a pesticide that was causing cancer. GMOs, right?” At the end of the episode, Goldberg invited Hines to “come back” on the show. “Really?” Hines retorted, making a face. Especially if she can bring the worm.
