The Nobel Prize in chemistry will be announced Wednesday

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences is announcing the Nobel Prize in chemistry. The laureate or laureates will be named Wednesday. There have been 116 chemistry prizes given to 195 individuals between 1901 and 2024. Last year’s prize was awarded to David Baker, a biochemist at the University of Washington in Seattle, and to Demis Hassabis and John Jumper, computer scientists at Google DeepMind. The 2025 announcements started with the medicine prize honoring three scientists for immune system discoveries, and the physics prize honored three researchers for their work on subatomic quantum tunneling. This year’s literature prize will be announced Thursday. The Nobel Peace Prize will be announced Friday and the economics prize Monday.
