Where does Michigan State rank among the most valuable college football programs in the country? The Athletic has an answer for that.
If it was possible to buy the Michigan State football program, how much do you think it would cost? Apparently the number is close to $708 million, per a recent article from The Athletic.
The Athletic published a story this past week that looked to answer this hypothetical question of program worth with a methodology that was “part art, part science.” The full breakdown of how the worth was determined can be found here.
So we know how much Michigan State football is worth — but how does it compare to the other programs across the country? Well, it’s in the top 25 nationally, coming in at No. 21 in the country. Among Big Ten teams, the Spartans were No. 10.
This was a really interesting spin on the upcoming season and how these big-time programs compare to professional teams that are actually owned by someone. One day, we may be saying the same thing about college football programs too, but for now, this was a fun way to see how the Spartans compared in monetary value on the national scale.
