Tennessee Vols football has a true road game for the first time this season with the trip to Mississippi State on Sept. 27 at Davis Wade Stadium.
The Vols (3-1, 0-1 SEC) will hope that their offense travels in full song to Starkville. Tennessee’s offense is currently 4th in the country with 53.5 points per game.
Mississippi State (4-0) won its only game against power competition to this point, a comeback victory over Arizona State on Sept. 6.

Jeff Lebby has an up-tempo offense at Mississippi State similar to Tennessee. That’s not surprising since Lebby served as Josh Heupel’s offensive coordinator at UCF. Both teams have racked up points in the first quarter, so expect a shootout early on. But the Bulldogs have experienced a few offensive lulls. If they do that here, the Vols will seize the opportunity and pull away.

The Vols are good enough to handle this fairly easily. But I’d have said the same thing before they went to Arkansas last season, too.
