Stop giving sugary items in school midday meals: Paediatrics group urges Maharashtra govt

The Maharashtra government has been urged by a team of paediatricians to eliminate sugary foods from school midday meals, citing the risk of diabetes and obesity. The current guidelines permit 25 to 45 grams of sugar in meals, depending on the students’ class levels. Concerns were raised about exceeding daily sugar intake requirements.
