Rapper Soulja Boy, born DeAndre Cortez Way, was arrested during a traffic stop on LA’s Melrose Avenue late Saturday night/Sunday morning. According to NBC News, Way was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. A firearm was spotted during the stop, and Way was arrested on suspicions of possessing a weapon. According to Deadline, Way had been celebrating his birthday in West Hollywood before the arrest.
This is not Way’s first run-in with the law. In 2023, he was charged alongside Jake Paul and Lindsay Lohan for cryptocrimes. In March of this year, a lawsuit accused the rapper of of rape, assault, and kidnapping. He was ordered to pay $4 million in damages to the accuser in April.
