Earlier this week, NFL teams trimmed their rosters down to 53 players ahead of the 2025 season. The New York Giants have already made some changes since they announced their initial 53-man roster.
General manager Joe Schoen is always looking for ways to improve the roster, including recently released players from other teams. There are a few positions across the roster that could use an upgrade, including safety.
On Friday, it was announced that the New England Patriots would be releasing former Giants safety Jabrill Peppers:
Patriots are releasing veteran safety Jabrill Peppers, per source. Peppers still has $4.32 million guaranteed remaining on his contract for this season.

Peppers was included in the package the Giants received from the Cleveland Browns in the infamous Odell Beckham Jr. trade. He played for the Giants from 2019 to 2021 after starting his career in Cleveland.
Over the course of three seasons, Peppers played in 32 games with the Giants and served as a team captain for his final two years with the team.
Peppers, who will turn 30 during the season, could bring veteran leadership to a very youthful secondary for the Giants, as well as some local flavor after growing up in New Jersey. If he has anything left in the tank, it may be wise for Schoen to kick the tires on the possibility of bringing Peppers back.
