MIDDLEBURY — Northridge High School will be looking for a new swimming and diving coach beginning this week after the resignation of head coach Seth Cripe.
Cripe. who has been the Raiders’ boys and girls coach for the past three seasons, led the Northridge boys team to sectional and Northern Lakes Conference titles in each of the past two years.
A release from Middlebury Community Schools on Monday said Cripe will be departing to pursue a professional opportunity outside the school system.
“This role has been one of the greatest opportunities of my life,’’ Cripe said. “It has been a joy continuing to help our program achieve the excellence that we have had for years. I am so proud of our athletes and what they have accomplished over the past few years.
“I am thankful for the relationships that I have build since being back at Northridge as a coach. I look forward to the continued success that our program will have moving forward. The future is bright for Northridge Swimming and Diving.’’
Cripe, who swam for legendary NHS coach Joe Keller, will also step down as the Middlebury Community Schools Aquatics Director.
“Seth did a great job in his time here to keep the proud tradition going,’’ NHS athletic director Ryan Bales said. “Being a former Northridge swimmer, he took great pride in his role of coach and leader of the program. He was excellent at building relationships with his student-athletes.
“We will be looking for someone to come in who can build-off of this relationship piece that he has established as well as keeping our teams at a very competitive level.’’
Bales said the deadline to apply for the head coaching position is Aug. 8, or until the position is filled. Interested candidates can contact Bales at balesR@mcsin-k12-org for more information.
