SC to hear Maharashtra govt’s plea on June 3 against premature release of gangster Arun Gawli

The Supreme Court is set to hear a plea from the Maharashtra government challenging a Bombay High Court order that allowed the premature release of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, who is serving life imprisonment in a murder case. Gawli, who is 65 years old and certified as weak by the Medical Board, argues that the rejection of his application for premature release by the state authorities is unjust and arbitrary.
