Sabrina Carpenter broke out in 2024 with the one-two punch of the song of the summer, “Espresso,” and her witty-sexy album Short ’n’ Sweet. Now, she’s back so quick that it’s like she never left. Carpenter confirmed on June 11 that her next album, Man’s Best Friend, is officially out, barely a year after her previous record. Below, what we know about the new album and its lead single, “Manchild.” Ruff!
Man’s Best Friend is coming.
Carpenter confirmed the 12-song track list in an Instagram post on August 1. It’s hard not be most excited for “Never Getting Laid,” but we’d put some money on “Go Go Juice” being the sleeper hit of the record. Especially if it samples the Go-Go’s. Sabrina Carpenter has definitely got the beat.
1. “Manchild”
2. “Tears”
3. “My Man on Willpower”
4. “Sugar Talking”
5. “We Almost Broke Up Again Last Night”
6. “Nobody’s Son”
7. “Never Getting Laid”
8. “When Did You Get Hot?”
9. “Go Go Juice”
10. “Don’t Worry I’ll Make You Worry”
11. “House Tour”
12. “Goodbye”
What’s the vibe of the album?
Based on the album art, where Carpenter is posing next to a man’s legs like a dog, the album will evoke Babygirl. He’s even holding her hair up like a leash!
What about the lead single?
“Manchild” is a kiss-off about a stupid man. In it, she patronizes her man by talking like a caveman, asking, “Why so sexy if so dumb?” It’s been theorized that the song is about Carpenter’s public ex, movie star Barry Keoghan. Are there any indications Man’s Best Friend is about Keoghan? Well, he does remind some people of Target’s famous dog mascot.
