Revanth Reddy Proposes Young India Sports University in Response to Anand Mahindra’s Olympic Concerns

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy responded to Anand Mahindra’s tweet expressing concern over India’s performance at the Paris Olympics. In a his response, Reddy acknowledged Mahindra’s sentiments about the country’s untapped potential in sports and announced a significant initiative aimed at addressing the issue.

Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, had expressed his distress over India’s declining Olympic rankings. “I admit I’ve run out of thoughts and am confused,” Mahindra stated, calling for ideas to bridge the gap between India’s potential and its performance on the global stage.

Reddy, resonating with Mahindra’s concerns, shared his long-standing angst over the same issue and revealed plans for a transformative project—the establishment of the ‘Young India Sports University’ in Telangana. He announced that a 200-acre campus has been secured in Hakimpet, Hyderabad, and a partnership with Korea National Sports University (KNSU) has been initiated to develop world-class sports infrastructure.

“I invite you to help us create an infrastructure to turn around the performance for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics,” Reddy urged Mahindra, emphasising his commitment to harnessing the potential of youth across India. The initiative aims to ensure Telangana contributes significantly to India’s Olympic medal tally in the future.

With this project, Reddy aims to unite efforts across the public and private sectors to nurture India’s young athletes, providing them with the resources and training needed to excel on the world stage.
