Junior Brooke Hibino put down a match-high 15 kills and Jade Light added 12 kills and three aces for UC Davis, which defeated Hawaii 25-23, 23-25, 25-12, 25-13 tonight at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
A crowd of 4, 059 watched the Aggies (6-4, 2-0 Big West ) defeat Hawaii (5-8, 1-1 ) on the Rainbow Wahine’s home floor for the second straight year.
To make things even more difficult for UH, freshman outside hitter Cha’lei Reid, who had 10 kills, fell to the floor on a swing in the fourth set and eventually had to be helped off by two assistant coaches.
She struggled to put any weight on her left leg.
Sophomore middle Miliana Sylvester hit.625 with a team-high 11 kills for Hawaii, which hit.047 for the match and hit negative in each of the final two sets.
After two competitive sets to start, the Aggies dominated the second half of the match to earn their third win all-time against Hawaii.
UH defeated UC Davis in five sets in the semifinals of the Outrigger Big West Championships last November.
Victoria Leyva had a match-high 17 digs and sophomore Adriana Arquette finished with six kills, seven digs and 20 assists.
UH outblocked the Aggies 11-8.
Hawaii will go on the road to play at Cal State Bakersfield next on Friday and at Cal State Northridge the following day.
