The slayers have entered the chat. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood are some of the new faces joining the sequel to Ready or Not. Thankfully, they both have some experience as hunters: Gellar as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, obviously, and Wood as Yellowjackets citizen detective/internet sleuth Walter. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett reunite for Ready or Not: Here I Come because it’s impossible for Samara Weaving’s Grace to catch a break. There are no details on the plot of the sequel, so it’s impossible to predict the horrors that Grace is going to have to go through. However, we do know that writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy are coming back to write the script— what torture can they put everyone through that’s worse than being hunted for sport? Maybe the aftermath of planning a funeral for 10+ people.
Who else is entering the game?
Here they come! Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Shawn Hatosy (The Pitt), Néstor Carbonell (The Dark Knight), Kevin Durand (Abigail), and director David Cronenberg (as an actor) are signed on to join Gellar, Wood, and Weaving in whatever bloody game is in store. How about a cursed family reunion? At least there’s a doctor on board to clean up the mess.
What was the first film about again?
Bride Grace (Weaving) was set to marry Alex (Mark O’Brien). She meets his estranged relatives who believe in a family curse: when a new member marries into the family, they have to pull a card and if the card reads hide and seek, the new person is hunted by the rest of the family. Of course, Grace pulls the hide and seek card and she has to fight for her life as everyone tries to kill her, believing that if she survives the night everyone else dies instead. Turns out the curse is real.
When is Ready or Not: Here I Come in theaters?
There’s no release date but Variety reports that filming beginning next week. Game on!
