Ranking all 16 SEC football helmets from worst-to-best

There are simply many things that make college football, as well as the SEC, what it is today.

Many of these can come off-the-field such as the game day atmosphere or tailgating ahead of a big rivalry game, as well as on-field through the action itself, or even the uniforms.

Well, taking a look at the latter, the SEC has some of the most recognizable and storied uniforms in college football, many of which you can likely picture by just the team name alone. However, what about the helmets in particular?

Across the SEC, there are many different versions of helmets that include various symbols such as team logos, mascots, colors, and more. If you had to rank each SEC team by which has the best as well, who would you choose?

Well, here is our ranking of which SEC teams have the best helmets entering the 2025 college football season.

16. South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina has a few different helmet variations that include both white and black as the main options. Included in this duo is a black face mask with a stripe, as well as the Gamecocks mascot surrounded by a “C” on each side.

15. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt fairly recently changed logo’s on their helmet, now having a “V” on each side instead of the star logo they held previously. The Commodores also have different helmet options such as gold and black, each of which have a stripe down the middle in the schools different color variations.

14. Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M’s logo is certainly recognizable across college football, as are the Aggies maroon-and-white uniforms. The Aggies’ helmets are in that same conversation as well, sporting Texas A&M’s initials on each side in big font with both a maroon and white version of each.

13. Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas sports a red helmet with a white face mask that features their white Razorbacks logo on each side. The Razorbacks helmet is also a bit unique among SEC programs as not only is it one-of-three in the conference that does not have a letter in any form, but of that trio, Arkansas’ logo is the lone to have the full body, not just the head, of their mascot.

12. Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma has used some different headgear options in the past such as white and a different shade of red, but the Sooners primary option is their dark red helmets. The Sooners also have the “OU” logo placed on each side, along with a white face mask.

11. Auburn Tigers

The Auburn logo is one of the more recognizable in the SEC one could argue, and the Tigers headgear features the “AU” letter duo on a white helmet with orange and blue stripes down the middle. Auburn’s primary face mask color has been blue for a long time, but the Tigers have also changed that up in recent years with both white and orange as well.

10. Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia’s helmet features a logo that is likely recognizable at every level of the sport, but what makes it unique to the Bulldogs is their color scheme. The Bulldogs wear a red helmet that features a white stripe and face mask, as well as a black “G” on each side in the middle of another white patch.

9. Texas Longhorns

The Texas Longhorns logo is among the most recognizable in college football, and that is the headline feature of the program’s helmet. Texas wears an all-white helmet with a white face mask and the Longhorns logo in burnt orange on the sides.

8. Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee’s logo is among the more recognizable in college football, and the Volunteers helmet has a large “T” in orange on each side with an orange stripe and a white face mask on their primary helmet. The Volunteers also have used a few other colored helmets in recent years such as black and gray.

7. Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky has used multiple helmet combinations across the past few seasons, with the primary color options in that group including blue, white, and even chrome. These also include either white or blue stripes and face masks, along with the familiar “UK” logo on each side.

6. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama has one of the more traditional looks in college football, wearing a crimson helmet that has a white stripe down the middle with a gray face mask. What truly sets Alabama’s look apart however is the fact that the Crimson Tide have each players’ respective number in white on each side of their helmet, a look no other SEC team has.

5. Missouri Tigers

Missouri recently has gone to two different helmet designs, one of which includes a tiger on the side, as well as a block “M.” The Tigers also have black, white, and yellow helmets that feature both designs, stripes in each color, and black face masks, making the Tigers one of the more creative SEC teams when it comes to headgear designs.

4. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Making a change in recent years, Mississippi State’s new helmet design features the word “State” written in cursive on both sides. The Bulldogs also have two colored helmets, maroon and white, both of which are paired with a white face mask.

3. LSU Tigers

LSU sports one of the more unique color combinations among SEC teams, with the Tigers using both yellow and white helmets. Their primary option however is an iconic look in college football, sporting a yellow helmet with a purple face mask, white and purple stripes down the middle, and the letters “LSU” with a tiger on each side.

2. Florida Gators

While the Gators have used some additional helmets at times in recent years, Florida’s classic look is recognizable to most everyone across college football. A primary orange helmet, Florida has a blue and white stripe in the middle, a white face mask, and the word “Gators” written in cursive on each side.

1. Ole Miss Rebels

The Ole Miss Rebels have many helmet combinations that they have used over the last couple of seasons, headlined by their powder blue helmets that are potentially among the best in college football. Alongside powder blue, Ole Miss also has helmets in colors such as dark blue, white, and even digital came, and have many different variations of face masks and stripes, making the Rebels among the SEC’s more versatile helmet options.
