Aston Villa attacker Donyell Malen continued his fantastic pre-season campaign to wrap up a 4-0 win against AS Roma.
The Villa ace took the ball, fended off a defender and jinked past another to score the fourth goal after a terrific performance from the Birmingham-based outfit.
Malen scored twice in Aston Villa’s first pre-season match-up against Eintracht Frankfurt and followed it with an assist as Villa beat St Louis City.
The Dutchman netted again as Villa drew 2-2 with Nashville before hammering Roma.
Jacob Tanswell of the Birmingham Mail gave Malen an 8/10 for showing his clinical ability in front of goal.
“He’s a powerhouse when he takes that touch inside and shoots,” Tanswell wrote about the former Borussia Dortmund forward.
Malen’s goal was remarkable because he had barely had a sniff. However, when the opportunity arose, he came alive and finished with aplomb.
Villa will need Malen to be at his clinical best this coming season as the club bids to reclaim a top-four spot while making a mark in Europe.
Marcus Rashford left after Villa failed to seal a permanent deal, and Unai Emery’s side need all the firepower they can muster.
The Villains will be banking on Malen and Ollie Watkins to deliver the goods. The former netted only three times last term following his winter move.
He has shown signs that he will explode in 2025/26, and Villa fans must be eagerly waiting to witness his performances.
Elsewhere, Villa are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Evann Guessand from OGC Nice.
Guessand caught Villa’s eye after bagging 12 goals and eight assists for Nice last term.
