J.J. Spaun has embarked on new financial territory with his victory in the U.S. Open on June 15 at the Oakmont Country Club.
Spaun earned $4.3 million for his victory, secured when he emerged from a pack of contenders with three long birdie putts on the back nine, including the improbable 64-footer at the last. That’s more in one tournament than he made in any of his professional seasons through 2024.
Spaun had already surpassed his career-best season on the money list, $3,060,779 in 2022-23, but now he has more than triple that amount and rose from 12th to third on the money list with $9,644,182.
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy remained first and second, respectively, and Scheffler crossed the $15 million barrier with his $615,786 check for a tie for seventh at the Open. McIlroy is less than $1 million behind him.
