PFF ranks Broncos CB Pat Surtain 27th among best NFL players

The NFL offseason is winding down as training camps are underway across the league. With teams gearing up for the 2025 NFL season, it’s only right for publications such as Pro Football Focus to start ranking the top 50 NFL players.

Dalton Wasserman and Trevor Sikkema have Myles Garrett, Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow as the top three players on their list. Denver Broncos star cornerback Patrick Surtain II was also recognized, landing at No. 27 on the list. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year got a lot of praise from the two writers.

“At just 25, Surtain already has a Defensive Player of the Year award to his name,” they wrote for PFF. “In four NFL seasons, he’s been a Pro Bowler three times and a First-Team All-Pro twice. In 2024, he earned an 87.4 coverage grade while allowing only 0.53 yards per cover snap and just 52 targets all season — a clear sign of how often quarterbacks avoided him. Sustaining success at cornerback is notoriously difficult, but Surtain is proving he has the rare talent to do it.”

A tremendous honor for the 25-year-old. This season, let’s see if Surtain will compound on his accomplishments.
