It may be the middle of football season, but basketball is finally back in Eugene, and Dana Altman leads the Oregon Ducks into Matthew Knight Arena on Tuesday night to tip off the 2025-26 season with a promising bunch of players who are looking to make a run deep into March.
Oregon kicks things off against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on Tuesday night in what is expected to be a competitive opening season matchup that will tell us a lot about this Ducks’ team that features a few returning veterans, and many incoming transfers to fill out the role positions.
The Ducks enter with high expectations despite beginning the season unranked in the polls, as they return a talented trio of point guard Jackson Shelstad, center Nate Bittle, and forward Kwame Evans Jr. Wei Lin also joins the fray, as he averaged over 20 points per game in the Chinese Basketball Association and figures to start at shooting guard.
The opponent for Game 1, the Rainbow Warriors, finished last season with a 15-16 record, including just 7-13 in conference play. The Ducks, on the other hand, went 25-10 and 12-8 in the Big Ten, culminating in a Round of 32 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
We will be keeping you up to speed throughout the game with live updates and highlights, so be sure to check back during the game for full coverage.
