Boston Celtics reserve guard Payton Pritchard has won the 2025 NBA Kia Sixth Man of the Year award in a landslide, crushing the competing nominees in the voting and adding to the Celtics tradition of winning the award on their way to hanging banners over the decades.
Pritchard joins the likes of former teammate and fellow guard Malcolm Brogdon (2023), and Hall of Fame Boston big men Kevin McHale (1984 and 1985) and Bill Walton (1986 – rest in peace) as Celtics alumni who have been so honored in the past. Pritchard put up 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game off the bench in 77 of 80 games played while shooting 47.2% from the field overall, 40.7% from 3, and 84.5% from the line this season to secure the award, nearly lapping the next-closest nominee in points for the vote.
NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg recently reacted to Pritchard getting the nod in a clip made by the broadcaster. Check it out below!
