The Oklahoma Sooners’ College Football Playoff chances took a bit of a hit in their 23-6 loss to the Texas Longhorns. The Sooners, who are a win away from matching their 2024 win total, still have every opportunity to make a run in the SEC and make the CFP. But they’ll have to find some answers to the questions the Longhorns exposed.
Namely, Oklahoma has to figure out a run game and get John Mateer back on track after a three-interception game in the Red River Showdown. But there’s no time to rest ahead of a big road trip to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on the Gamecocks.
South Carolina hasn’t had the season that they hoped they’d have, but they have the talent to give the Sooners fits if they come in unprepared and not ready to play.
With Week 7 in the books, how does the ESPN matchup predictor see the rest of the Sooners’ 2025 schedule playing out? Here’s an updated look at the game-by-game predictions.

Oklahoma still projected to go 8-4
As disappointing as the loss to Texas was, the Sooners are still projected to go 8-4 this season. Games against South Carolina, Ole Miss, Missouri, and LSU are coin flip games. The Sooners are either a slight favorite or a slight underdog in those matchups. They’re going to have to fight for every win this year and if they want to make the College Football Playoff, will have to pick up a couple of upsets along the way.
