The Seattle Seahawks were included among the 29 teams the NFL announced joint practice dates for during the 2025 preseason for the second straight year.
Wednesday’s NFL.comnews release has the Seahawks practicing in Green Bay against the Packers on August 21 ahead of their preseason game at Lambeau Field on the 23rd.
The Seahawks traveled to Nashville to practice against the Tennessee Titans last year. John Boyle of Seahawks.comreported thatHead Coach [Mike] ‘Macdonald called the experience “an overall net positive”’ after two days of joint practices.
“I felt like we got great work with all ones, twos and threes, and special teams. Great to go against somebody else, like you said. And then, it’s cool just to spend time with one another… Net positive for the whole week.”
Macdonald also highlighted the opportunity to “compete against an opponent in a more controlled environment than a game, and because of the team-bonding opportunity it gave the team in its first year under a new coaching staff.”
Macdonald has long been reported to highlight physicality in practices since his days as the Baltimore Ravens Defensive Coordinator. Not only does he participate in joint practices, but he speaks positively of them in public as well, and speaks about the importance of physicality to his football team constantly. As he enters his second season in Seattle, his physical attitude can be felt permeating the organization.
Macdonald and Seahawks General Manager John Schneider invested heavily in the trenches and the box this offseason. They used their top draft capital to select offensive lineman Grey Zabel and defensive back Nick Emmanwori, two big, physical talents who share his willingness for physicality and will benefit the more they’re around him. Extra chances to hit an opponent in a different-colored jersey are valuable experience to give the rookies as they look to begin their careers on the right foot. Physicality is a narrative that will keep following Macdonald as he and his team preach, invest in and practice it.
