Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD hit digital screens yesterday (Aug 23) night putting the spotlight on the sci-fi/action movie yet again.
The star-studded film which brought in actors like Kamal Hassan, Deepika Padukone, Amitach Bachchan and others had seen a huge success at the box-office and earned applause from the audience.
Soon after its release on Netflix (Hindi) and Prime Video (Telugu and other languages), audiences flooded social media with contrasting opinions sparking wide discussions.
While many were in sync with the opinion of those who appreciated the movie during its initial theatrical release, a section people did not like the movie and also agreed to the comments made by Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi.
Earlier Arshad Warsi, said in a podcast that “Maine Kalki dekhi jo mujhe nahi achi lagi, Amit ji was.. Unbelievable, I can’t understand that man. I swear jitna power in main hai mujhe mil jaye, he’s unbelievable, Prabhas I’m really sad but why was he.. he was like a “joker”. I want to see a Mad Max yaar, I want to see Mel Gibson over there, tumne isko kya bana diya yaar? Kyu karta isa muje nahi samaj aata?”
The old clipping of the podcast is now going viral with many social media users reciprocating the same opinion. “#ArshadWarsi is right about Prabhas’s film Kalki and Prabhas’s acting. Kalki’s film is a film worth watching for small children, Prabhas’s acting is also similar,” a user wrote on ‘X’.
Reacting to the comments of Arshad Warsi, star actor Nani responded sharply during a press meet held for his upcoming movie ‘Saripodha Shanivaram’ and said “I think this is the biggest publicity to that man (Arshad Warsi) in his entire life, You are unnecessarily glorifying an unimportant matter.”
However, the actor later regretted his comments and praised Arshad Warsi for his acting skills.
The whole controversy around the movie is sparking a huge meme fest on various social media platforms.
