Moyes on Grealish: “He is even better than I thought.”

Two starts, four assists. Jack Grealish has continued to wow fans, teammates and the manager alike after laying on another pair of assists in Everton’s 3-2 win away at Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday, becoming the first Everton player to register two or more assists in successive Premier League games.

Speaking after the game, David Moyes gushed about the Manchester City wide man who is at the Toffees on loan for the season.

“He [Grealish] is even better than I thought. He probably needs a bit of love and attention. He needs the games as well.

“Hopefully he starts building on it and he gets even better as the season goes on. He is making a big difference. Whether it is his assists, his presence, lots of things.

“So all credit to him. He is playing the minutes he may not have had in recent years. You know, he’s so good. What Jack gives us is something just on the edge, which, hopefully it’s on the edge of creativeness and maybe scoring goals.”

Grealish was also very influential in the Toffees’ midweek win over Mansfield Town in the Second Round Carabao Cup fixture, and could not have imagined a better start to his time on Merseyside.

With the international break now upon us, Grealish will have more time to work with his teammates not having received a call up from Thomas Tuchel for England’s squad. What has been even more impressive about Grealish is not just his work on the ball with the attack, but in his defensive responsibilities as well.
