More than a dozen Steelers make list of All-Time draft picks

ESPN took on a massive challenge of assigning the top NFL player to be taken with all of the 262 NFL draft picks. This was a huge project and as we pored over every pick, we were impressed to see just how many Pittsburgh Steelers both past and present, made the cut. The Steelers have had so many great players over the years but many of our favorites missed the cut because of other players just being better. Fans will clamor for guys like Terry Bradshaw at No. 1 over Peyton Manning or Joe Greene over Walter Payton at No. 4, but for the most part, we are happy with how this list played out.

Here’s how the Steelers showed up in the draft:

Cam Heyward No. 31Jack Hamm No. 34Dirt Dawson No. 44Jack Lambert No. 46Mel Blount No. 53Hines Ward No. 92Dwight White No. 104Hardy Nickerson No. 122Mike Webster No. 125Larry Foote No. 128Greg Lloyd No. 150Antonio Brown No. 195LC Greenwood No. 238Kelvin Beecham No. 248Jerry Olsavsky No. 258

There are no real surprises here except for linebacker Larry Foote. He was always one of the most underrated players on those elite Steeler defenses but it’s great to see him get his props on this list. This list also reminds us that two of the best Steelers of all time, linebacker James Harrison and defensive back Carnell Lake were undrafted free agents.
