Masuaku ready for a new challenge at Sunderland

Congo defender Arthur Masuaku, 31, has expressed his delight at returning to the English Premier League after signing a two-year contract with Sunderland.Out of contract following his spell at Turkish club Beşiktaş, Masuaku joined Sunderland on a free transfer.

In an interview with Sunderland’s official website, the player nicknamed “The Fauves” said: ” I’m happy to be here and back in the Premier League. Sunderland is a big club. I had three good years in Turkey and now a new challenge awaits me. I want to bring a winning mentality and joy to the supporters.”He added:“I will give my best to perform on the pitch. Our squad is young, and at 31, I will do my utmost to bring my experience, support my teammates, and stay positive no matter what.”Masuaku also shared his ambitions:“I’ve already won several trophies in my career and I have a winner’s mentality that I want to bring to the club. I want to bring joy to our fans, who deserve it after a tough period. Together, I hope we can achieve great things.”He also wants to take on a leadership role in the dressing room:“I want to be one of the team’s leaders and help my teammates in every way I can.”The Congolese international will make his debut for his new club in the Premier League against his former side West Ham United this weekend at the Stadium of Light. He sees this match as a special moment in his career: “Facing my former club in my Premier League return will be very special, and I’m sure the atmosphere will be incredible.”
