Liverpool have set the stage for yet another deadline day deal. A lot of moving parts here, though.
Liverpool have kicked transfer deadline day off with a bang by agreeing a deal with Newcastle United for Alexander Isak. It’ll smash the British transfer record but the Reds finally get their man.
And they won’t stop there. Liverpool hope to agree a deal with Crystal Palace, too, for their captain Marc Guehi.
Guehi’s contract expires in a year but Liverpool feel it makes sense to snap him up for the season, paying a reduced fee. And it’s hard to disagree with that.
Ridiculously, it doesn’t even stop there. Liverpool have at least two potential first-team sales on the cards today and one of them has a lot of moving parts.
But the Reds have positioned themselves to make this one happen. Now let’s see if it gets over the line.

Joe Gomez to AC Milan
Anfield Watch understands AC Milan want to sign Joe Gomez from Liverpool. They’re eager to, in fact, and it appears their owners found a way to make it happen.
Liverpool will only entertain the idea of a deal if Guehi arrives. They’d be short on centre-backs otherwise, as well as short on homegrown players.
Palace will only entertain the idea of selling Guehi if a replacement gets through the door, however. They’ve made a move in that direction, striking a deal with Toulouse for Jaydee Canvot.
So if that one goes through, then Guehi can move to Liverpool. And if Guehi can move to Liverpool, Gomez can move to Milan.
Funnily enough, Toulouse is owned by the same people as Milan, meaning they did have a vested interest in sending Canvot to South London. In a roundabout way, they discovered a way to get Gomez.
An incredible number of moving parts here, though. We can’t even be certain that one centre-back is enough for Palace but we’ll see what the day holds.
The stage is certainly set for Gomez to join Milan, though.
