Reese has become close with WNBA legend Lisa Leslie after two successful seasons with the Chicago Sky to begin her career. Leslie, who played for the Sparks, was in attendance during Tuesday’s game between Chicago and Los Angeles.

During the post-game press conference, Reese revealed a message that Leslie relayed to her before the contest.

“She was like, ‘You’re a beast on the boards,'” Reese said.

Leslie played each of her 12 WNBA seasons in Los Angeles. There, she won two championships and three MVP awards while also being named to the All-WNBA team on 12 occasions and making the All-Star team eight times.

As a rookie, Reese contributed 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game for the Sky. In her sophomore season, she had been averaging 10.8 points, a league-leading 11.8 rebounds and career-best 3.5 assists through the first 13 games in 2025.

Chicago’s next game will take place at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California, against the 7-6 Golden State Valkyries. Tipoff is set for 10:00 p.m. ET on Friday evening.
