KTR appears before Telangana Women’s Commission; Tenders apology

Hyderabad: The Telangana Women’s Commission, in its commitment to safeguarding the dignity and rights of women, had issued summons to BRS working president and MLA KT Rama Rao (KTR) for derogatory comments made against women travelling in TGSRTC buses.

KTR appeared before the Commission on Saturday as per the summons and provided an explanation for his statements. During the proceedings, KTR expressed regret and formally apologized for the comments. He acknowledged that such statements were inappropriate and should not have been made by someone holding a leadership position of his stature.

The Commission, while accepting his apology, issued clear instructions to KTR to refrain from making any such remarks in the future. The Commission has also informed KTR that any recurrence of such incidents may result in further proceedings as deemed appropriate by the Commission.

Earlier, high drama prevailed when KTR came to appear before the Commission here with the Congress women leaders raising slogans against him for making derogatory remarks. In response, the BRS women leaders also raised anti-Congress slogans.

The police personnel, who were on duty at the office, intervened and dispersed the two groups paving the way for KTR to appear before the Commission.
