Kolkata Police have invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, restricting gatherings around RG Kar Medical College following protests over a rape and murder incident. Effective from 18 August for seven days, the order aims to prevent disturbances and ensure the safety of medical staff and the public following recent unrest and vandalism.
