Kharge Confident in Congress’s Prospects Despite Exit Polls

Kalaburagi: Amidst exit polls projecting a significant lead for the BJP with over 20 seats in Karnataka, IT-BT, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge remains resolute in Congress’s prospects, expressing confidence in securing 18 seats in the state.

Speaking to reporters in Kalaburagi on Sunday, Kharge remarked, “Congress will surely win 18 seats in the state, and the INDIA parties will cross 295 seats nationwide.”

Reflecting on past electoral trends, Kharge highlighted the disparity between exit poll predictions and actual results.

“The exit polls did not indicate Congress winning more than 100 seats in the 2023 assembly elections in Karnataka. However, the outcome defied expectations. That is why the People’s exit poll is important,” he noted.

Asserting his party’s unwavering confidence, Kharge emphasized, “In 48 hours, we will witness the result. We are confident of clinching 18 seats in the state, while INDIA parties are poised to surpass 295 seats nationally.”

Casting doubt on BJP’s lofty aspirations of NDA crossing 400 seats in the country, Kharge criticized their claim.

“Many BJP candidates advocated for crossing the 400-seat mark for changing the constitution. However, people are well aware, ensuring BJP’s projected tally falls short, likely not exceeding 230 seats,” he added.
